About Kathie: Kathie trained at the London College of Dance and Drama and afterwards at Leeds University (UK) where she studied a variety of dance styles and gained professional and teaching qualifications in dance, music and drama. In 2011, she completed her Masters in Teaching Dance with the Royal Academy of Dance, gaining Distinction.
She has performed chorus, solo and lead roles in Musicals, ballet concerts, recitals etc. and is involved in dance ministry. She performed in the presence of HRH Princess Margaret as part of the RAD EAR anniversary gala.
Kathie was contracted by the Royal Academy of Dance as a Practical Teaching Supervisor, Tutor and Sessional Lecturer for the teaching certificate and diploma (CBTS, DDTS), BA Dance Education and Masters programs. Kathie is now embarking on full-time work with the RAD in London, UK as Lecturer in Teacher Education and Programme Leader for the PGCE in Dance Teaching, and will be returning on occasion as a guest teacher for special workshops.
She enjoys teaching ballet and other dance styles, and has several of her students have gone on to become professional performers and teachers, or have auditioned successfully for summer and full-time courses at top vocational schools such as The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, National Ballet School, École Superieur de Ballet, London Studio Centre, Arts Educational Schools, Scottish Ballet Associates, Stella Mann School, and Dance School of Scotland.
She delights in helping students realize their potential, and has created ’inspired’ choreography. In 2008 & 2009 she enabled students to achieve the Primary Dance Shield for Eagle View Elementary at the GVPAF. in 2009-10 she was also Artist in Residence at Eagle View.
