Lighthouse Academy of Dance will be offering 2 dance camps this summer, a RAD Intensive in July and August as well as a FUN ART DANCE camp in August for all ages. Please read on for more information.

Taught by our RAD RTS teacher Ms.Stephanie Wilson, the RAD Summer Camps are a fun way to develop your technique. The program includes barre work, center work, RAD variations, character, and stretch & conditioning. Applications are welcome from students aged 8-18, studying RAD ballet syllabus. The week closes with an open view for the last 15 minutes to showcase the student's achievements.
4 to 6 years old (9:00-12:00am) - Students will experience a variety of classes including Ballet, Jazz, Highland and creative movement. Students will also have a story time, get to watch a real ballet (DVD), create a variety of fun dance inspired crafts, and many more fun activities inspired by the summer season. All of the classes will be taught by our qualified and experienced teachers. Students will bring their summer creations home.

7 to 11 years old (9:00-3:30pm) - Reaching the end of the Summer, the children in this age category will enjoy the luxury of sampling a variety of different dance disciplines including Highland, Ballet, Jazz, and Tap. Your children will also spend time making a variety of dance inspired crafts, watching different ballets (DVD), playing different games to encourage and build improvisation skills, and self-confidence, as well as learn a small dance routine in a fun and motivating environment.

Stephanie began her dance training at the age of 3. She has trained in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip hop, and acro. She has attained her Advanced II level ballet exam in RAD (Royal Academy of Dance), her Advanced level modern exam in AIDT (Association of International Dance Teachers) and her Gold Higher Tap exam in AIDT. Over the years she has been involved with local dance festivals and numerous conventions. The love she holds for dance drives her to share that passion with her students. Stephanie has achieved teaching certifications in AIDT modern/jazz and the RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies program.
Ivana Matovina is a graduate of the joint degree/diploma program between York University and Canada’s National Ballet School, where she completed her teaching qualifications. Alongside her academic pursuits, Ivana performed with the York Dance Ensemble, Sashar Zarif Dance Theater, and rad (random acts of dance). In 2006 she toured to Montreal, Canada and Dusseldorf, Germany performing Sashar Zarif’s full length work Meeting with Saghi.
Genevieve Lisik is a Canadian artist residing in Victoria, BC. She is a painter but enjoys learning and creating art in different mediums. She has recently finished her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Arts at the University of Victoria., also her recently earned her Bachelor of Education. A dancer since the age of 4, she loves the precision, control, grace and physicality of dance. Every colour being a different movement of air and moving in certain directions. Her recent work develops her ideas of dance, movement and colour. Very kind at heart, Ms.Genevieve has volunteered in many places in the world teaching arts and dance classes.
